Dates to absolutely avoid in Cannes: the Festival (May), MIPIM (March), Cannes Lions (June), Yachting Festival (September). On these dates, the best estates are taken and all suppliers (florists, caterers, photographers) are overloaded. Prefer July, August (quiet in Cannes in terms of professional events), or October for the exceptional light.
Important legal questions
Civil ceremony: where to get married?
The civil ceremony MUST take place at the town hall. In Cannes: main town hall, marriage only on Saturday morning. In Antibes, Mougins, Saint-Paul-de-Vence: also possible during the week. To marry in these municipalities, one of the spouses must have a connection there (residence or parent).
Secular ceremony: legal value
No legal value in France. Purely symbolic. But emotionally very powerful and allows full personalisation. The officiant is often a loved one or a professional wedding officiant.
Religious ceremony
Possible in a private chapel (rare, diocese authorisation required) or local church. Procedures 6-9 months before (parish preparation mandatory for Catholics).
A wedding in Cannes in a private villa means giving your guests 3-7 days of shared holiday in a dream setting. The wedding becomes the highlight, but the entire experience marks everyone for life.
