Why a private pool makes all the difference

In Cannes, the public beaches are crowded from June to September, the private beaches cost 80-180 EUR/day for two sun loungers, and hotel pools are often shared with 200 other guests. A villa with a private pool offers you:

Marc's tip

In September/October, the sea is still warm (21-23°C) BUT mornings can be cool. A pool heated to 28°C lets you swim from 8am, while the sea remains chilly until midday. That is the real added value of a pool in late season.

Pool configurations in our catalogue

Infinity pools with sea view (the pinnacle)

The absolute reference of Cannes luxury: a pool that seems to merge into the Mediterranean. Found mainly in the Cannes heights (La Californie, Super Cannes), at Cap d'Antibes and on the Mougins heights. Often heated year-round.

Mirror pools / black pools

Contemporary architectural style, depth 1.20m to 2m, edge-to-edge. Ideal for photography and sunsets. The black finish absorbs heat (a natural 2-3°C gain). Rare in Cannes but featured in our recent high-end villas.

Lagoon pools with submerged beach (families)

The family configuration par excellence: a children's zone at 0-50 cm depth connected to an adult zone at 1.50m, with a marble beach submerged for loungers right at the water's edge. Very popular in family villas for 8-14 people.

Classic rectangular pools (the standard)

Traditional format, 8-12m x 4-5m, depth 1.40m to 2m. Featured in the majority of catalogue villas. A good compromise between sport swimming and comfort.

Covered or indoor pools (off-season residents)

For second-home owners off-season: a covered pool heated to 28°C, usable from November to March. Featured in around 15% of our catalogue, often paired with a spa and hammam.

Technical criteria to check before renting

The 8 essential checks

Child safety: the available options

Pool alarm (legal standard)

Fall-detection alarm mandatory for all private pools in France. Siren system triggered if an object over 8kg falls into the water. Included in all our villas.

Motorised rigid cover (option)

Physical pool protection, supporting the weight of an adult. Remote-controlled. Installed in 30% of our catalogue. Available as an option if not installed (loan and installation by our technical team: 200 EUR/stay).

Safety fence (option)

1.20m minimum perimeter fence with lockable gate. Installed in 25% of our catalogue. For very young children (3-6 years), it is the most reassuring solution.

Anti-drowning bracelet (option)

Electronic bracelet for children, alarm triggered if submerged for more than 5 seconds. Available to hire from our partners. 25-50 EUR/stay.

Pool maintenance during your stay

All our villas include a daily pool service:

Common mistakes when renting a villa with pool

Mistake 1: under-estimating the importance of heating

An unheated pool in Cannes is only usable from June to September. Outside that window, you are paying for nothing. Verify 'pool heated year-round' before booking.

Mistake 2: forgetting child safety

The legal alarm is mandatory but insufficient for very young children. Ask for a cover or fence in addition if children are under 8.

Mistake 3: not asking for exact dimensions

A 'large pool' in a photo could be 6m x 3m. To really swim, aim for 12m+ in length. For families, 15m+ with a children's zone.

Mistake 4: ignoring orientation and sun exposure

A north-facing pool or one shaded by trees means little time in the sun. Ask for photos at different times of day.

The pool does not make the villa. But a quality villa without a private pool in Cannes in summer means missing 50% of its potential. With a pool, the stay becomes a true retreat.

Yes in the vast majority of villas. We check the co-ownership rules for villas in gated estates. Limit: the official capacity of the villa.
